We're doing an All About Me theme this month, so it was a great time to read books well-nigh the homo body.Check out our favorites!
Have you seen our All About Me pack? Information technology has a huge variety of activities for children in preschool and kindergarten. The theme pack teaches the human body, emotions, and the five senses. These are the books we constitute to read alongside our human being body activities.
We learned then much!
Me and My Amazing Body, past Joan Sweeney
I love how Sweeney'southward books take big concepts and break them down for young children. In this book, she addresses the main body parts with kid friendly language that even preschoolers tin understand. We like the conversational style and the brilliant illustrations. Some reviewers on Amazon idea the illustrations were creepy – this never occurred to united states of america, and it's one of our favorites!
Parts, by Tedd Arnold
I resisted getting this book from the library considering I call back it'southward weird, just my kids ever grab it in the dr.'due south part waiting room and desire to hear it over and over again.
The narrator is a worrisome boy who thinks his body is falling apart when he finds abdomen button lint, something falls out of his olfactory organ, and his tooth is loose. At the end of the volume his parents explain that all these things are normal.
My kids call back it's hilarious, but you might think twice before reading to a kid prone to anxiety.
See Inside Your Body, past Katie Daynes and Colin Rex
I'g nervous around elevator the flap books, so nosotros kept this one far out of reach of our toddler. That said, it's a truly wonderful book that a child might explore all by himself at his ain step. The volume of data is far too much for reading to a group, but your kid may enjoy sitting on the couch with you and exploring a few pages at a fourth dimension.
The Magic Schoolhouse Bus Inside the Human Body, by Joanna Colen
I sort of accept a love/detest relationship with the Magic School Passenger vehicle books. On the one hand, they're bright, and my kids (and I!) accept learned so much scientific discipline from them. On the other hand, they are and then long! I always groan to myself (and, ahem, sometimes out loud) when 1 of my kids asks me to read 1.
This is one of their favorites, in which Arnold accidentally swallows the magic school bus, and the kids go a field trip exploring the inside of his torso. It'due south packed with data with creative illustrations and funny dialogue to keep kids' interest.
Hear Your Heart, by Paul Showers
This book is a trivial long for young preschoolers, but it'southward most right for kindergarten through second course. Paul Showers is a wonderful author, and then snatch upwards his nonfiction books whenever you see them! In this book we learn about the size of the centre, how eye rates vary, how to make your own stethoscope, and more.
Germs Make Me Sick, past Melvin Berger
Melvin Berger is one of my favorite science authors for kids. He's written very simple books (like this ane), books for older readers (like this one) and books right in the middle, like Germs Make Me Ill. It's a Let's Read and Find Out Book, a groovy series for older preschoolers who love to listen and learn. Yous'll learn some interesting facts in this volume — did you know that m germs tin can fit beyond the height of a pencil? Leaner and viruses are explained in a way that kids tin can understand.
Why I Sneeze, Shiver, Hiccup, and Yawn, by Melvin Berger
I recommend this book for kids who are always asking questions. Not every child will capeesh the detail that Berger uses to explain reflexes such as sneezing and shivering, simply some children every bit immature every bit preschool age will exist fascinated.
The Skeleton Inside You lot, past Philip Balestrino
"Without basic, you'd be equally floppy as a bean pocketbook." Like other authors in this list, Balestrino has a gift for making scientific discipline concepts interesting and engaging for your children. While some of information technology was over my 3-year-old's head, he however enjoyed the book. Recommended for kids through first grade.
I Wonder Why I Blink and Other Questions about My Body, byBrigid Avison
While you won't sit down and read this reference book cover to cover, it'south a great resource which answers questions kids have such as "Why do I get hiccups" and "How big is my centre?" Beware – it has a little bit of the birds and the bees that your kid may want further caption of.
How Many Teeth? by Paul Showers
In a house with a toddler withal getting teeth and older children who are losing theirs, my kids were all interested in this book. The book has fun rhymes, great illustrations, and excellent content. Recommended!
My First Trunk Book, past Angela Wilkes
This is a wonderful reference book that requires gentle handling because it has see through pages that let y'all see the layers of the human being body (bones, muscles, organs, etc.). While it's not a book to read cover to cover, yous'll appreciate the kid friendly diagrams and a number of activities and experiments to endeavor. Once more, this book hints at the birds and the bees and may inspire further questions.
The Eye Book, past Theo LeSieg
This book by Dr. Seuss (Theo LeSieg was his pen name when his books were illustrated by others), isn't going to teach your child any great scientific discipline, but information technology volition be a fun read aloud that tin be enjoyed before a book with deeper content. Too cheque out The Tooth Volume (Dr. Seuss) , The Nose Volume (Al Perkins) , and The Ear Book (Al Perkins). Not astounding children's literature by any means, just entertaining yet.
Your Body, by Melvin and Gilda Berger
My only complaint almost this fiddling book and the others in the series is that they are difficult to track down! Our library doesn't take them, and I tin't detect many of them on Amazon. In one case upon a fourth dimension I bought them through a Scholastic book club, then if your child comes home with those, snatch these books upwards for your preschooler or kindergartner. Plus, they're swell early readers for kids in first form. Be sure to expect for My Skin , My Muscles, My Bones, and My Centre.
