Rice cereal=tummy ache
Baby boy is 5 months old and my husband and I decided to try introducing a few solids. He only took in about 2 teaspoons each time but seemed interested. Tried sweet potatoes and carrots (one type for 3 days and then switched). I figured why not try the rice cereal mixed in some formula to see if it sticks in his belly so he sleeps for longer than 2-3 hr. stretches. Wow, what a mistake! I fed him rice cereal twice in one day and he was up all night fussy and would only sleep in my arms rather than his crib. Wasn't sure if it was a coincidence so we tried the cereal again. The next night was worse. After 4 hours of him crying (even in my arms) I took him down to his swing where he finally fell asleep. Spent the rest of the night watching him to make sure he stayed safe and got rest. We stopped the cereal and within one day he was better. He is currently in his crib sleeping peacefully. Thought this reaction was strange since the bland cereal upset his tummy but the other foods didn't. Anyone else had experience with this?
